St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands is a tropical island which is a bit less accessible and less developed than some of its neighbors. Currently it thrives on tourism, but It has a history of colonization by Denmark and Britain and the US, and unfortunately, slavery. Today more than half of the island is the USVI National Park, preserving its natural beauty in perpetuity. There are beautiful beaches, snorkeling, and famous sea turtles. The  night skies, which were the main focus of my visit, are stunning.
